The Quickstep is another one of the ballroom dances that we teach at Dancemore.
It started out as a response to the faster timing of the swing bands and jazz era in the 1920s where dancers started a dance that combined quicker Foxtrot steps with some moves from the Charleston.
Over time, it evolved into its own separate dance with its own name. As the name suggests, it’s one of the quicker and more energetic ballroom dances, but still maintains the elegance that characterises ballroom dancing.
In the video below, Deon and Shaan give us a great demonstration of how lively and beautiful this dance can be.
We hope that this list of songs inspires your home practice.
