Deon Esterhuizen is a qualified South African Dance Teachers’ Association (SADTA)  Latin Examiner and an Associate Ballroom and Licentiate Latin Qualified Adjudicator.

Deon shares with us more about his love of dance and how he became part of the Dancemore family.

From a young age, I wanted to start Ballroom and Latin dancing, but did not have the means, so I started dancing at 18 and have never looked back.

I completed professionally and represented South Africa twice at the British Open in Blackpool. I also trained and competed in show dance theatre arts.

I have been teaching professionally for 30 years now. I had my own studio for many years, but decided to join the Dancemore family in 2019 as a freelance teacher.

I teach the advanced group class as well as wedding and social couples, but my focus is on teaching SADTA Competitive and Exam work.

My favourite dances are the Rhumba and Foxtrot. I love how these slow dances allow you to have loads of control and to really express the emotion of the music. For me, dancing is about what you feel from deep within yourself.

I am also passionate about having a healthy body and mind and am usually at the gym at 4:30 in the morning. I also love ice skating and ice dancing too.
